The beach flag significance is determined by the color of the flag. The beach flag significance will warn you of dangers you might encounter if you decide to go for a swim. Here the beach flag significance for each color:

- Green flag: Calm surf conditions
- Yellow flag: Moderate surf conditions, exercise caution
- Yellow flag with black jelly fish: Portuguese Man-of-War warning
- Purple flag: Dangerous marine life
- Red flag: Strong surf, strong current
- Red flag with line crossing out swimmer: water closed to public
