Miami Beach accommodations. Miami Portuguese Man-o-War jellyfish are often mixed with jellyfish. It looks like a jellyfish and is blue in color. It almost looks plastic. A sting from a Miami Portuguese Man-o-War jellyfish can be very painful.
Here, find some advice on what to do if you happen to get stung by a Miami Portuguese Man-o-War jellyfish while you are vacationing in Miami and staying in Miami Beach accommodations:
- Remove off any tentacles with a glove or a stick
- Rinse the sting with salt water
- Do NOT use vinegar on the sting as it could worsen it.
- Go to your Miami Beach accommodations or indoors and apply an ammonia compress for 30 minutes or until the pain is gone.
If the victim has been stung by a Miami Portuguese Man-o-War jellyfish on a large part of the body (entire leg, arm, torso), and the victim is very young, very old, sick or allergic, it can actually cause shock. In such a case, seek advice from a doctor immediately.
